Our master craftsmen are key to the production of quality, bespoke joinery and we are proud of our hard won reputation. Using traditional skills and construction, we specialise in the design and production of individual items and the replication of existing features.

After many decades, some of the oak gates at Glynde Place in East Sussex needed to be replaced. Parsons Joinery were requested to replicate the original gates in oak which have been left to weather naturally.

The large gates, shown in the picture, secure the main entrance to the building. The original iron latches were renovated by the local blacksmith and refitted on the replacement gates. As the seasons pass, you will be able to watch the natural weathering process as the untreated oak gradually changes in colour from blond to ash grey.

Harvey & Sons, the Lewes based brewery, operate a rolling programme of refurbishment to their public houses, many of which are of architectural interest. Parsons Joinery have been involved in supplying windows, doors and staircases for many of these renovations including the Red Lion at Turners Hill and the Rose and Crown at Burwash.

Additionally, we were asked to replicate the curved entrance doors to the brewery building based in the centre of Lewes. In the interests of hygiene, this area is regularly hosed down with water and, over some period of time, the painted entrance doors began to rot and deteriorate and needed to be replaced.

We recently supplied joinery to Thomas & Duffield, building contractors, for a project at Dale House, Keere Street, Lewes, a project which was "Highly Commended" in the Sussex Heritage Trust 2005 Small Residential Awards. This project is featured in the Architectural Review South East 2006 by the Royal Institute of British Architects.
